For UK rail, that is a proper cheap day-out fare. The operator’s own examples also include Liverpool to London from £7, and Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton to Liverpool from £5.75.

London Northwestern Railway says the codes are available until 17 August, or until the 20,000-code allocation is gone. The discounted tickets are valid for travel up until 22 September.
The booking route is slightly fiddly, but manageable. You need to request a unique code by email, download the London Northwestern Railway app, enter the code in the app, and select ‘our trains only’ when searching.
The main restriction is that this is not a general all-rail sale. The terms say the discount applies to eligible Advance tickets on London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway services only, and Railcards cannot be used with the code.
