Stay in the Original Dirty Dancing Hotel from £101

Mountain Lake Lodge

Published 17 January 2025 | Updated 4 September 2026 by Jane Robinson

If you’re of a certain age, you’ll remember the 1987 hit film Dirty Dancing, and you might even have attempted the lift for that famous final scene. The resort where it was filmed is still open, still running, and you can book a room there through Expedia rather than hunting through third-party search results.

The Deal

  • Mountain Lake Lodge sits at 115 Hotel Circle, Pembroke, Virginia, in the Allegheny Mountains. The historic Main Stone Lodge dates back to 1851.
  • Rooms are live-priced through Expedia from £101 a night, taxes and fees included, for a midweek stay. Weekend nights run higher, so it’s worth comparing a few dates before you book.
  • The lodge offers a free self-guided tour map at the front desk, showing exactly where each scene was filmed, including the lift.
  • Staff confirm the “Virginia Cabin,” known in the film as Baby’s Cabin, can be requested directly through the front desk.

Accommodation highlights

  • Charming rooms: rustic, comfortable rooms with modern amenities in the historic Main Stone Lodge, plus separate cabins and cottages.
  • Scenic surroundings: views over 2,600 acres of protected Blue Ridge Mountain wilderness.
  • On-site dining: the Harvest Restaurant, where Baby and Johnny first meet on screen.

Things to do

  1. Dirty Dancing tour: follow the self-guided map around the lodge’s filming locations, including the gazebo where the dance lessons happened.
  2. Outdoor adventures: hiking trails, mountain biking routes and kayaking on Mountain Lake itself.
  3. Relax: the lodge runs regular Dirty Dancing themed weekends with dance lessons and film screenings.
