Do easyJet flights get cheaper closer to the date? Not in the final weeks. easyJet says fares typically start low and rise as seats sell, and in a ten-month tracking study of three routes, none hit its cheapest fare in the last nine weeks before departure. Two of the three did sit below their launch fare on at least half the checks, so it depends on the route.

|---|---|
| easyJet pricing explainer | Prices typically start low and rise as fewer seats become available. Booking well in advance often secures a better rate. |
| Holiday Expert tracker | All three routes dipped below their launch fare at times. Two stayed below it on half or more of checks. None hit its lowest fare in the final nine weeks. |
| easyJet on last-minute fares | The very high prices people spot are usually the last one or two seats on a full flight. |
How easyJet says its pricing works
easyJet’s own pricing explainer (23 January 2026) says pricing is demand-led and that prices “typically start low and increase as fewer seats become available”. It adds that booking well in advance often secures a better rate than booking last minute.
The airline also says the very high fares people screenshot are the last one or two seats on a full flight. A scary last-minute price tells you little about what most passengers paid, which suggests a late bargain is unlikely.
easyJet says it doesn’t use cookies or online behaviour to raise prices, so a private window shouldn’t change the fare you see. It can still move as seats sell.

So where does the “wait for a drop” idea come from? Fares do move after release, and on two of the three routes tracked below they sat under the launch price on at least half the checks. The catch is when the dips came.
Do easyJet flights get cheaper closer to the date? What the tracking data shows
Travel site Holiday Expert tracked three easyJet routes from September 2024 to June 2025, logging each fare over ten months. All three were summer 2025 trips from Scotland or Northern Ireland, so treat them as three case studies, not a network-wide rule.
| Route | Release fare | Cheapest seen | Best vs release | Cheaper than release |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Glasgow to Hurghada | £291.30 | £245 on 28 Feb 2025 | 16% below release | 11% of checks |
| Edinburgh to Heraklion | £467.08 | £162 on 19 Oct 2024 | 65% below release | 93% of checks |
| Belfast to Palma | £275.48 | £179 on 27 Apr 2025 | 35% below release | 54% of checks |
The spread is wide. Glasgow to Hurghada was dearer than the release fare on most checks, so booking at launch beat most later prices. Edinburgh to Heraklion sat below its release fare on 93% of checks, so waiting paid off. Belfast to Palma was close to a coin toss.
Look at when the lows came. Edinburgh to Heraklion bottomed out on 19 October 2024, about eight months before it flew. Glasgow to Hurghada hit its low on 28 February 2025, around four months out. Belfast to Palma’s came on 27 April 2025, roughly ten weeks before departure. None was cheapest in the final nine weeks.
“Edinburgh to Heraklion is the route that rewards patience. Its fare fell 65% below the launch price by October and was under it on 93% of checks, but that low came about eight months out, so the wait that paid off was a long one. Anyone who’d left it to the final weeks wouldn’t have seen it.”

We’d expect busy peak-week routes to behave differently from quiet ones, but three routes can’t tell you which is which. Heading to the Costa del Sol, the Algarve, Lanzarote or Barcelona? Our guides to Marbella, Faro, Lanzarote and Barcelona cover costs on the ground. For fares, watch your own route for a few weeks before you commit.
Does the Book with Confidence Promise change when to book?
Not for 2027 bookings, as things stand. easyJet says the promise is “an exception to our standard terms for bookings made up to 31 October 2026”, and on 13 October 2026 it had not announced an extension. On those bookings, the price of your flight or package is fixed once confirmed, with no later price rises or fuel surcharges. Read easyJet’s Book with Confidence terms.
If you booked by 31 October 2026, it protected you from a rise after booking. easyJet’s standard flight terms say it bears fuel costs and does not pass them on, but a rise in government tax after you book can be passed on. easyJet doesn’t say it will refund a later fare drop, so the promise never made waiting pay. Check easyJet’s terms before you book in case it announces a new one.
When to book easyJet flights
easyJet’s flights-release page showed flights on sale up to 26 September 2027 when we checked in October 2026, with autumn 2027 flights “coming soon” and no date given. Because fares typically start low and rise, a fare you’d happily pay is worth taking, though three tracked routes can’t settle how yours will behave. See our guides to how far in advance to book easyJet flights and the best time to book easyJet flights.
For shoulder-season dates or flexible trips, set a target price, check the route every week or two, and book when it lands. Without a target price, you are just waiting.

Compare neighbouring days on easyJet.com, and try the Low Fare Finder, which gives an overview of fares to a destination. It is a search tool, not an email alert, so you’ll need to check back yourself.
After you book
| Next step | Why it matters | Our guide |
|---|---|---|
| Checked bag | Hold bags are an add-on, not in the base fare | |
| Cabin bag | easyJet’s fare includes one under-seat bag | |
| Seat | Seat choice is optional and priced separately | |
| Liquids | Airport rules, not the airline, set the limit | |
| Insurance | Worth sorting before you fly |

Frequently asked questions
Do easyJet flights get cheaper closer to the date?
Not in the final weeks. easyJet says fares typically start low and rise as seats sell, and none of three tracked routes hit its lowest fare in the last nine weeks. All three dipped below launch at times, but only two stayed below it on half or more of checks, so it depends on the route.
Do easyJet prices go up the more you search?
No. easyJet says it doesn’t use cookies or online behaviour to raise prices. Fares move with demand and remaining seats.
Do easyJet have last-minute deals?
easyJet says the very high last-minute prices people see are the final one or two seats on a full flight. Don’t count on a late bargain if your dates are fixed.
How far in advance should I book easyJet flights?
easyJet releases flights in batches about a year ahead, and says fares typically start low and rise. For peak dates, book when you see a fare you’d happily pay. For off-peak dates, set a target price and watch the route.
Why did my easyJet fare change while I was booking?
easyJet says prices are demand-led and rise as seats sell, so a fare can change before you pay. The price is confirmed once you complete the booking.
What is easyJet’s Book with Confidence Promise?
It was a promise covering bookings made up to 31 October 2026: the price of a flight or package was fixed once confirmed, with no later price rises or fuel surcharges. On 13 October 2026 easyJet had not announced an extension. Its standard flight terms say it does not pass fuel costs on, though a government tax rise can be.
Are easyJet summer 2027 flights on sale?
Yes. When we checked in October 2026, easyJet’s release page showed flights up to 26 September 2027 on sale. It says autumn 2027 flights are coming soon but hasn’t given a date.
