Types of seat on easyJet
Standard seats
Any seat outside the Up Front and Extra Legroom rows. You pick window, middle or aisle. It’s the cheapest way to guarantee where you sit, and the only way to be sure your group is together.
Up Front seats
Rows 2 to 6, or rows 2 to 5 on some aircraft. You’re paying for position: you sit near the front door and get off sooner. If cabin bags worry you, read how strict easyJet is with hand luggage first, because the seat doesn’t change your bag allowance.
Extra Legroom seats
easyJet sells these in the first row and the overwing rows, and they include the Up Front benefits. easyJet’s minimum seat pitch is 28 inches (71cm) and minimum width 16 inches (40.5cm), so the extra space is noticeable. Exit-row seats come with rules. You must be 16 or older, not travelling with an infant, and willing and able to operate an exit. If you don’t meet the rules on the day, crew will move you.
Best seats on easyJet
The best seat depends on what you want from the flight. Row numbers vary by aircraft type, so check the seat map when you book rather than relying on a row number from a past trip.
Picking by priority
For a quick exit, Up Front in rows 2 to 6 puts you near the door. For legroom, pick an Extra Legroom seat in the first row or over the wing, as long as you meet the exit-row rules. For a view, take a window. If none of that matters and you’re travelling alone, let easyJet allocate a seat for free at check-in.

Who gets seats free on easyJet?
easyJet Plus cardholders get Standard, Up Front and Extra Legroom seats free. Add the membership number at checkout and the seat cost comes off. The card is personal, so it only covers the member. Inclusive Plus fares include a free Standard or Up Front seat, with Extra Legroom at a discount.
Seating children and families together
If nobody pays for a seat, easyJet allocates seats at check-in and says it will do all it can to seat everyone on a booking together. That isn’t guaranteed, especially if you check in close to departure. Infants under two must sit with an adult, on a lap or in an adjacent seat. easyJet allows one lap infant per row of three, and an infant with their own seat needs a car seat and must be booked by phone.
Can you change your easyJet seat?
Yes. If you haven’t checked in, you can add or change seats up to two hours before departure in Manage Bookings on the easyJet website or the app. Already checked in? Contact easyJet Customer Service. On bookings with more than one passenger, you must pick seats for everyone or easyJet won’t sell any allocated seats. It’s all or nothing.
