Does Virgin Atlantic Have WiFi? Costs, Starlink and How to Connect

Virgin Atlantic WiFi — A350 aircraft with Starlink satellite internet at LAX

Virgin Atlantic WiFi is available on every long-haul flight. Whether you are flying to New York, Los Angeles or Barbados, you will find a connection the moment you are airborne. The bigger story right now is Starlink: Virgin Atlantic is rolling out SpaceX’s satellite internet across its fleet, and on Airbus A350 flights it is free for Flying Club members.

All A350 aircraft have Starlink installed as of June 2026. The Boeing 787 fleet follows in the second half of 2026, with the A330neo completing the rollout in 2027. Until then, a paid WiFi service runs on all aircraft, with three pass options to suit different needs. You can also check current pricing and buy a pass on the Virgin Atlantic website.

What WiFi does Virgin Atlantic offer?

Virgin Atlantic runs two WiFi systems across its fleet. The newer system is Starlink, SpaceX’s low-orbit satellite internet, live on all A350 aircraft and being installed on the 787s and A330neos over the next 18 months. The existing paid service remains on the B787 and A330 fleets until Starlink arrives.

On all aircraft you choose from three pass types. The messaging pass covers WhatsApp, iMessage and similar apps for the full flight. The one-hour pass adds web browsing and email for 60 minutes. The full-flight pass gives you internet access for the entire journey, though Virgin Atlantic notes it cannot guarantee streaming under the current paid system.

What does Virgin Atlantic WiFi cost?

Pricing on the A350 is shown below. Other aircraft have a similar structure, with full-flight passes typically ranging from £17.99 to £20.99 depending on the route. Flying Club members get Starlink free on A350 flights, gate to gate. Flying Club is free to join.

Upper Class passengers receive complimentary full internet on all flights, regardless of aircraft type or whether Starlink is installed.

What is Starlink WiFi on Virgin Atlantic?

Starlink is SpaceX’s low-Earth orbit satellite internet. It uses a dense constellation of satellites to deliver fast, low-latency broadband gate to gate, without the drop-outs that older systems suffered at cruising altitude. For most passengers, it feels like a home broadband connection.

Virgin Atlantic was the first UK airline to announce free, fleet-wide Starlink in July 2025. British Airways followed shortly after, though Virgin Atlantic has moved faster on actual installation: its entire A350 fleet was complete within weeks of beginning the rollout. Starlink supports live streaming, video calls and productivity at speeds comparable to a fixed line. Virgin Atlantic asks passengers not to make video calls out of courtesy to others in the cabin.

Does Upper Class get free WiFi on Virgin Atlantic?

Yes. Upper Class passengers receive complimentary full internet on all Virgin Atlantic flights. This applies regardless of aircraft type and regardless of whether the route is on an A350 with Starlink or a B787 or A330 with the older paid system.

If you are in Premium or Economy and want to avoid the charge, join Flying Club before you travel. Membership is free, and on A350 flights you get full Starlink at no extra cost. It is also worth checking whether an upgrade makes sense on your route. On long transatlantic flights, complimentary WiFi alongside the flat bed and meal service can shift the value calculation considerably.

Which aircraft have Starlink?

Starlink is live on all of Virgin Atlantic’s Airbus A350-1000 aircraft as of June 2026. The Boeing 787-9 is next, with installation scheduled for the second half of 2026. The A330neo follows in 2027. The older A330-300 (A330ceo) is being phased out and will not receive Starlink.

Routes currently operated by the A350 include London Heathrow to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, Atlanta and New York JFK. If connectivity matters for your trip, check the aircraft type in your booking confirmation.

How do you connect to Virgin Atlantic WiFi?

Switch your device to flight mode before boarding, then turn WiFi back on. Once airborne and above 10,000 feet, the Virgin Atlantic WiFi network will appear. Connect to it and your browser should open the portal automatically. If it does not, go to wifi.virginatlantic.com.

Select your pass and pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Flying Club members log in to access free Starlink on A350 flights. You can connect multiple devices using your Flying Club login on each.

If you are pre-planning, check your booking before departure. Some fares include a WiFi voucher and occasionally passes are available at a discount via the Virgin Atlantic app.

Tips for getting the most from Virgin Atlantic WiFi

Join Flying Club before you travel if you have not already. Membership is free and on A350 routes it means full Starlink internet at no charge. On 787 or A330 flights, the messaging pass at £2.99 is a reasonable option for staying in touch without paying for full browsing.

Check your seat before you fly. On Starlink-equipped A350s, coverage is consistent throughout the cabin. On older aircraft with the Viasat system, seats closer to the front have historically had marginally stronger signal, though the difference is modest.

If you need reliable connectivity for work, choose an A350 route where possible. London to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington DC and Atlanta all operate on the A350, so Starlink is available on those routes now.
