Stena Line has Holyhead-Dublin foot-passenger day trips from £10 adult, with kids over three half price. For the price of a cheap rail fare, you get a proper sea crossing, time in Dublin if you choose a landing trip, and the option to make it a ferry day out if you just fancy the journey.
The best bit is how clean the price is. Stena says the offer is for a round trip between Holyhead and Dublin, and it runs any day of the week. Adults start from £10, while children over three are half price.

From 1 July, the checked Holyhead timings are 02:15 out with returns at 08:15, 14:45 or 20:30, 09:00 out with returns at 14:45 or 20:30, and 15:15 out with a 20:30 return. Up to 30 June, Stena lists 04:00, 10:00 and 16:00 outward sailings with same-day return options.
This works best if you’re close enough to Holyhead for the early starts not to ruin the day. If you want Dublin itself, pick a sailing that gives you enough time ashore. If you just want a low-cost ferry trip and a browse around the duty-free shop, Stena also says you can return on the same ship after disembarking and rechecking in at Dublin.
The fare is for foot passengers, not a car. Food, drinks, lounge upgrades, onward travel and anything you buy on board cost extra.
How to book
