Jet2 Sports Equipment: Fees, Weight Limits and Packing Rules

Jet2 sports equipment: a red and black golf bag standing on a practice green with clubs and balls

Published 1 October 2026 | Updated 1 October 2026 by Kate Acaster

Jet2 sports equipment is listed from £35 online. Golf clubs, skis, snowboards and diving kit get a 22kg allowance in the hold, and bikes and surfboards get 32kg. The exact fee for your item shows at booking. Footballs, cricket kit and martial arts gear travel under the standard allowance, and Jet2’s table doesn’t say whether the sports fee applies to them.

Jet2 won’t carry archery equipment, ammunition or hover boards. Skis, snowboards and water skis with a motor must be drained of fuel, and paragliders with a motor must be drained completely, residual fuel included.

What it costs to take sports equipment on Jet2

Jet2’s baggage fee table shows one figure for sports equipment: “from £35” online, with allowances “from 22kg”. It says the actual allowance and fee for your item appear during booking. That makes £35 a starting point, not a quote for every item. The table doesn’t say whether the fee is per item or per flight, so confirm that on screen.

Skis and snowboards go in the hold, protected.

Three more figures from Jet2’s baggage fee table matter once you’re packing.

  • Musical instruments in the hold cost £30 online, with a 22kg allowance.
  • Excess weight is £12 a kilo at the airport or gate, up to the price of an extra hold bag. The table doesn’t say whether sports gear is charged differently.
  • No single hold bag can go over 32kg, however much you pay.

Golf clubs on Jet2

Jet2 lists golf equipment as sports equipment, with a 22kg allowance in the hold, and says it must be sufficiently protected. It doesn’t define that further. Weigh the packed bag at home, and if you have a separate hold bag, put the shoes in that.

Bikes and surfboards: 32kg, with strict packing rules

Surfboards can be up to 300cm long and 32kg on Jet2.

Bikes and surfboards are the only items on Jet2’s list with a 32kg allowance, and both must be packed to Jet2’s rules.

  • Bikes: take the pedals off, turn the handlebars in line with the frame, let the tyres down, and protect the bike with a box, strong cardboard or similar.
  • Surfboards: remove the fins or pack them in polystyrene foam, wrap the nose and tail in bubble wrap or neoprene foam, put cardboard down the rails, and use a properly padded surf bag.
  • Jet2’s only stated size limit for a surfboard is 300cm, so measure a long board before you book.

Ski and snowboard flights

Jet2 runs ski flights to the Austrian, French, Italian and Swiss Alps, Andorra and the Tyrolean Mountains. Skis, snowboards and water skis each get a 22kg allowance in the hold. Jet2 doesn’t say whether boots and a helmet count separately, so assume they share it if they’re in the same bag. Pad every sharp edge, as Jet2 requires.

A bike or a set of clubs in the hold can be damaged or lost. Check the single-item limit on your travel insurance policy before you fly.

More on flying with Jet2

“Don’t treat £35 as the price of your clubs or your bike. Add the item in the booking process and read the figure on screen before you commit. Jet2’s table gives an online price only, and it doesn’t say what the airport charges for sports gear.”

Jet2 sports equipment: FAQs

How much does Jet2 charge for golf clubs?

Jet2 lists sports equipment from £35 online and shows no price for golf alone. Golf clubs get a 22kg allowance, and the exact fee for your booking appears during the booking process.

Can I take a bike on a Jet2 flight?

Yes, in the hold, with a 32kg allowance, once it’s packed to Jet2’s rules: pedals off, handlebars in line with the frame, tyres deflated, boxed or protected.

Can I take skis and a snowboard on Jet2?

Yes. They go in the hold with a 22kg allowance, protected and with all sharp edges padded.

Do footballs have a separate allowance on Jet2?

No. Jet2 lists footballs on its sports table, but they travel in hand or hold baggage under the standard allowance, deflated by at least 25%.

What is the heaviest item Jet2 will carry in the hold?

32kg. That is the absolute limit for any single hold bag, and it’s also the allowance for bikes and surfboards. Jet2’s fee table charges excess weight at £12 a kilo at the airport or gate.
