Wizz Air Name Change Fee: How Much It Costs (and When It’s Cheaper to Rebook)

Wizz Air name change fee: a passport, the document that must match the name on your booking

Last updated: August 2026

Get the passenger details wrong at checkout, and fixing them later costs real money. The Wizz Air name change fee is €70 per flight, per passenger, charged in euros regardless of which currency you booked in. A genuine spelling slip is a different story: that’s free, once per booking.

How much is the Wizz Air name change fee?

Wizz Air’s own fee table charges the same amount whether you book the correction online, over the phone, or at the airport. Ring the Call Centre instead of doing it yourself, though, and a separate transaction fee gets added on top.

Every fee on that table is billed in euros, even on a UK booking paid for in pounds. Check your card statement for the conversion rather than assuming £70 flat.

How to correct passenger details online

The WIZZ Account app and website both work the same way, and the fee is calculated automatically once you enter the corrected spelling.

  1. Log in to your WIZZ Account, on the app or the website.
  2. Select the booking you need to fix and click “Details”.
  3. Choose “Make changes” in the top corner of the Booking Overview page.
  4. Open the “Change passenger details” menu and enter the correct spelling.
  5. Review the fee, which is calculated automatically from the new name entered.
  6. Confirm and pay to complete the correction.

The app and website charge the same fee. There’s no discount for doing it yourself over calling.

The 3 hour cut-off applies to every online correction, free or paid, so don’t assume you have longer just because no charge is involved. Miss that window and the Call Centre becomes the only remaining route, along with its extra transaction fee.

Can you fix a spelling mistake for free?

Yes, once per booking, and it covers more than most people expect.

  • Correcting up to three characters in a first or last name.
  • Expanding an abbreviated name, such as “John T. Smith”, to match a travel document in full.
  • Fixing the gender or title recorded against the booking.
  • Swapping a first name and surname that were entered in the wrong order.

All four fall under the same single free correction, so use it carefully. A second fix, even a minor one, moves straight to the paid fee.

“This fee is billed in euros no matter what currency you paid for the flight in. Book in sterling, get charged in euros, and the number on your card statement won’t match what you expected from a quick mental conversion.”

Married or changed your surname? There’s a separate free route

A genuine surname change following marriage or divorce doesn’t go through the WIZZ Account at all. Submit a claim form on the airline’s website instead, and a reply can take up to 30 days. If your flight is close and you can’t wait that long, contact the Call Centre or Live Chat directly rather than relying on the claim form.

Is it cheaper to just book a new flight instead?

Sometimes. Add up your original fare plus anything already paid for, such as bags or seat selection, since a non-refundable booking loses all of it if you walk away. Compare that total against a fresh one-way fare on the same route and dates.

Weighing up the Wizz Air name change fee against booking a fresh flight
Search your own route before deciding. A route with genuinely low fares can make rebooking the better option.

Wizz Air’s cheapest fares are often on quieter, less competitive routes. On a busy trunk route where prices are already high, a fresh booking rarely beats paying the fee.

Can you transfer a booking to someone else entirely?

Yes. Wizz Air’s own terms confirm that changing the traveller completely uses the same €70 fee as any other correction. There’s no separate transfer charge, though the Call Centre transaction fee still applies if you don’t process it yourself online.

Wizz Air Name Change Fee: FAQs

How much does Wizz Air charge to change a name on a booking?

€70 per passenger, per flight, whether you do it through your WIZZ Account, the Call Centre or at the airport. Phone it in and a €15 transaction fee gets added on top.

Can I correct a name on a Wizz Air booking for free?

Yes, once per booking. It covers correcting up to three characters, expanding an abbreviated name, fixing a gender or title, or swapping a first name and surname entered the wrong way round.

Is it cheaper to rebook a Wizz Air flight than pay the name change fee?

Sometimes. Compare a fresh fare against your original booking plus any extras you’ve already paid for, since a non-refundable fare loses all of that if you walk away.

Online corrections, free or paid, close 3 hours before scheduled departure. After that, the Call Centre is the only remaining route.

Can Wizz Air update a name after marriage or divorce for free?

Yes, but not through the WIZZ Account. Submit a claim form on the website, which can take up to 30 days, or contact the Call Centre or Live Chat directly if your flight is close.
