TUI Name Change Fee: What It Costs (and Where the FAQ Is Wrong)

TUI name change fee: passport and travel documents, the details that must match your booking

Last updated: August 2026

The TUI name change fee is £25 per person, whether you make the change the day after booking or the day before you fly. That figure comes straight from TUI’s own booking conditions, confirmed at every notice band from more than 70 days out to the day of departure, and it covers any non-lead passenger on the booking. Nothing else on TUI’s fee table stays this predictable.

How much is the TUI name change fee?

£25 per person is a flat rate. It does not rise the closer you get to departure, unlike almost every other change TUI allows on a package booking.

Every other row on that table gets more expensive, or turns into a cancellation, as departure gets closer. Only the £25 row stays flat whatever the timing. Swapping the lead passenger uses a different process: the statutory transfer right, not this fee.

TUI’s own FAQ says something different

Search online for this fee and TUI’s own help centre gives a vague answer. It states: “The charge for changing a name on a booking depends on when you request the change; to change the name on a booking you’ll need to contact us.” That’s not what the booking conditions show: the £25 figure holds at every notice band, and the timing dependency applies to date and accommodation changes, not names. As of August 2026, Google’s AI Overview for this search echoed the same vaguer FAQ wording rather than the flat fee. This page uses the booking conditions instead.

How to change a name on a TUI booking

This £25 process covers any non-lead passenger on the booking. Changing the lead name instead uses the statutory transfer right, not this fee.

  1. Check whether the person needing a new name is the lead passenger or another traveller on the booking, as this decides which process applies.
  2. Booked online or through the TUI App? Log into Manage My Booking or your TUI Customer Account and make the change there.
  3. Booked in a TUI Holiday Store? Contact or visit that store directly instead.
  4. Confirm which notice band your departure date falls into using the table above. The band sets the £25 charge.
  5. For a baby not yet born, enter a placeholder name at booking and contact TUI for a free update once the baby has arrived.
Checking a TUI booking online before making a name change through Manage My Booking
Online and app bookings are changed through Manage My Booking or the TUI Customer Account, not by phone.

Have the booking reference and the correct spelling ready before starting. A TUI Holiday Store booking follows a different route: that name change happens in branch, not online.

Can you fix a name for free?

Yes, for a genuine spelling error, never for changing who’s actually travelling.

  • TUI’s own fee table marks spelling error corrections as free, alongside the £25 name and passenger-type change row.
  • A free correction covers typing mistakes, not a full change of passenger.
  • Swap who’s actually travelling and the standard £25 per person fee applies, at whichever notice band you’re booking within.

The legal right TUI’s fee table doesn’t mention

The £25 fee covers a non-lead passenger only. Swapping the lead name, or handing the whole booking to someone else entirely, is a different situation, and UK law gives package holiday customers a specific right here: regulation 9 of the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018. Give TUI seven days’ notice or more before departure, and that notice is always treated as reasonable. TUI must then tell you the transfer costs and provide proof of them, and those costs cannot exceed what TUI actually incurred as a result of the transfer.

“My advice: if you’re transferring a package booking to someone else with seven days’ notice or more, ask TUI for a breakdown before you pay. Fixing a passenger’s name and transferring the whole booking aren’t the same right, and they don’t have to cost the same either.”

Kate Acaster, Chief Editor, Flight Tribe

That’s a different legal basis to the £25 amendment fee, and it caps what TUI can charge at its actual cost, not a published rate. TUI’s fee page doesn’t reference it. A reader transferring the lead booking to someone else, with seven days’ notice or more, has grounds to ask TUI to justify its charge against the real administrative cost, rather than simply paying whatever figure is first quoted.

Is it cheaper to just rebook?

Rarely, for a package holiday. Walking away from a TUI package and booking again from scratch drops you into TUI’s cancellation charges instead of its £25 amendment fee. Those charges rise from loss of deposit only at 70 days or more before departure to 100% of the total holiday cost inside 14 days. For almost every notice period, paying £25 to fix the name is the cheaper route by a wide margin.

Travellers walking through an airport corridor, weighing up whether to fix a TUI name error or start a fresh booking
Cancelling a TUI package to avoid the £25 fee usually costs far more than the fee itself.

Compare the full price of your existing package against a completely new booking before deciding to walk away. For a flight-only TUI Airways booking, the maths is different again, since those fares are non-refundable on request and can be charged up to the full fare for a change.

TUI flight-only bookings work differently

The £25 fee applies to TUI package holidays. A TUI Airways flight-only booking is a separate product, and the rules change. Changing or cancelling one follows the airline’s own conditions of carriage, not the package fee table. TUI is explicit that the charge could reach 100% of the original fare, with no guarantee a change will be possible. There is one exception: a flight-only booking can convert into a package at no extra fee, if the new package travels on the same dates to the same destination. You pay only the price difference.

For everything else on booking with the operator, see our guide to flying with TUI. If your trip needs cancelling rather than correcting, our guide to the TUI cancellation policy covers the fees at each notice band in full, and our guide to what a package holiday actually includes explains the wider protections a package holiday carries.

  • Packing the wrong bag is a different mistake to booking the wrong name. Check TUI’s baggage allowance before you fly.
  • A fresh booking is easier to justify during a genuine price drop, so check when TUI has sales before deciding to rebook instead of correcting.
  • Choosing your own seat costs extra too. Our guide to TUI seat selection prices covers what’s worth paying for.

TUI name change fee: FAQs

How much does TUI charge to change a name on a package booking?

£25 per person, at every notice band from more than 70 days out to the day of departure. The fee doesn’t rise as departure gets closer, unlike TUI’s other amendment charges.

Does TUI’s own FAQ give the correct name change fee?

No. TUI’s help centre says the cost “depends on when you request the change”, but its own booking conditions show a flat £25 per person regardless of timing. The booking conditions are the figure to trust.

Is the TUI name change fee different for flight-only bookings?

Yes. TUI Airways flight-only bookings follow the airline’s own conditions of carriage, not the £25 package fee, and the charge could reach 100% of the original fare.

Can you change the lead passenger’s name on a TUI booking?

Not through the standard £25 route, which TUI states covers any non-lead passenger only. Changing the lead name means transferring the booking, which falls under the statutory transfer right instead.

Can TUI charge more than its actual cost to transfer a package booking?

Not if you give seven days’ notice or more before departure. Under the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018, TUI must prove its transfer costs and cannot charge beyond what it actually incurred.

Is a TUI name correction ever free?

Yes, for a genuine spelling error. TUI’s fee table marks spelling corrections as free, but a full change of passenger uses the standard £25 fee instead.

Can I switch a TUI flight-only booking to a TUI package instead?

Yes, at no extra fee, as long as the new package travels on the same dates to the same destination. You only pay the difference between the two prices.
