Jet2 cancellation policy: can you get a refund?

All Jet2.com scheduled flights are non-refundable. If you cancel, you lose what you paid, regardless of how much notice you give. There is no cooling-off period and no partial refund.

The only exception is when Jet2 cancels and can’t offer a suitable alternative. In that case, you’re entitled to a full refund. For everything else, the airline’s position is the same: cancel the booking, lose the fare.

Jet2holidays packages work differently. A sliding scale of cancellation charges applies depending on how far in advance you cancel. Cancel more than 70 days out and you lose your deposit. Cancel within 14 days and you lose 100% of the booking value.

Here’s what the Jet2 cancellation policy covers for both flights and holiday packages, verified from the live Jet2 website in June 2026.

If you cancel a Jet2 flight

All Jet2.com scheduled fares are non-refundable if you cancel, regardless of how much notice you give.

Log in to Manage My Booking at jet2.com, select your booking, and choose to cancel it. Jet2 will send a confirmation email with a link you’ll need to click to complete the cancellation. Keep that email if you’re planning a travel insurance claim.

Any third-party extras booked alongside the flight, such as car hire or a separately purchased insurance policy, aren’t covered by Jet2’s cancellation process. You’ll need to contact those providers directly.

Making changes instead of cancelling

Before you cancel, consider whether a date or name change would solve the problem. Both options preserve the booking rather than surrendering the whole fare. The fee for either is £40 per person per one-way flight, plus any fare difference for date changes. This is confirmed on the Jet2 FAQs page.

If Jet2 cancels your flight

If Jet2 cancels your flight and can’t offer a suitable alternative, you’re entitled to a full refund to your original payment card.

If Jet2 cancels and can’t offer a suitable alternative Jet2.com service, you’ll receive a full refund to the card you used to book. You’re not required to accept a voucher or credit note. In practice, Jet2 will try to rebook you onto another flight first.

A refund is issued when no suitable alternative is available. The airline will contact you directly. If you incurred additional costs as a direct result of the cancellation, you may also be able to claim under UK261/2004.

Jet2holidays cancellation policy

Jet2holidays operates as a package tour operator, so different rules apply under the Package Travel Regulations. Cancellation charges are set out in the booking terms and conditions (clause 5) and depend on how much notice you give before departure.

Cancelling more than 70 days before departure means you lose your deposit only. After that, charges rise as the departure date gets closer. Any amendment fees or insurance premiums paid beforehand are non-refundable.

Travel insurance

If your reason for cancelling is covered by your policy, such as serious illness, bereavement, or redundancy, you may recover costs from your insurer. Keep the Jet2 cancellation confirmation as evidence and cancel as soon as you know you can’t travel.

Check your policy wording before assuming you’re covered. Some policies exclude pre-existing conditions. Our Madeira budget travel guide covers what a visit costs if that destination is on the list. For deals on other routes, see our UK holiday deals page or browse cheap flight deals.
