British Airways September Sale: from £319

A British Airways aircraft landing at Heathrow, the airline behind the live British Airways September Sale

The British Airways September Sale launched on 27 August and runs until 29 September, with return flights to New York from £410, Miami from £515 and a brand new Melbourne route from £846. BA Holidays has cut package prices across the same window, with a week in the Maldives from £1,369pp and seven nights in Malaga from £319pp. This is BA’s annual late-summer sale, a sitewide discount across flights, Club Europe and BA Holidays packages running for five weeks, not a single flash deal on one route.

What’s in the British Airways September Sale

BA’s own launch figures, all return prices from London airports unless stated:

  • New York, from £410 return, BA’s most-searched route last week
  • Miami, from £515 return, BA’s second most-searched route last week
  • Melbourne, from £846 return, a new route added to the network
  • Barbados, from £523 return
  • Club Europe (short-haul business class): Barcelona from £328, Rome from £349, Nice from £361 return
  • BA Holidays: Maldives, 7 nights from £1,369pp; Sri Lanka (Colombo, a new route from 23 October), 7 nights from £749pp; Malaga, 7 nights from £319pp

These are launch-day headline fares, not a guarantee for every date. Prices vary by travel date, departure airport and party size, and BA updates its flight prices roughly every 24 hours. You need to book between 27 August and 23:59 GMT on 29 September 2026, though actual travel dates on some long-haul routes stretch out to mid-2027.

Is this genuinely good value?

Yes, for most of the routes above. BA discounts these fares against what customers actually paid in the four weeks before the sale started, not an inflated price invented for the day. £410 return to New York or £319pp for a week in Malaga both beat typical off-sale pricing. Two catches: the fares are non-refundable, and BA Holidays prices assume two people sharing, so a solo traveller sees a different total.

“Here’s what caught my eye. BA rarely launches a brand new route mid-sale, so Melbourne going live this week feels like a push for early bookings, not just clearing old stock. If a long-haul trip’s on your list for next year, this is a good moment to look, before the fare settles.”

The verdict

Worth checking if you’ve got a trip already in mind, less so if you’re just browsing. The strongest value sits at the extremes, the £319pp Malaga package for a cheap week away, or long-haul routes like New York and the new Melbourne fare. A low-cost carrier’s own flash sales will often still beat this on rock-bottom short-haul prices. BA’s real strength is long-haul and package holidays, where the discount against normal pricing is genuine.

How to book

A few tips before you search. Tap Book Now to go straight to BA’s sale page.

  1. Search flexible dates on ba.com, since the same route can vary by well over £100 across a month.
  2. Want the 20,000 bonus Avios offer? Register and book a BA Holidays package by midnight on 1 September, not the full sale deadline.
  3. A good fare today may not last, so book once you’re happy with the dates.
  4. Check whether the per-person price includes checked baggage. Our guide to British Airways baggage allowance covers what’s standard.

About British Airways Holidays

BA Holidays packages a flight with a hotel or car hire, and you can spread the cost with a deposit from £60pp and interest-free instalments after that. Book during the sale and Executive Club members earn one Tier Point per £1 spent, on top of the usual Avios.

New York was BA’s most-searched route in the week before this event launched, and at £410 return it’s easy to see why. The flight takes around eight hours from Heathrow, with availability running well into next year.

British Airways September Sale FAQs

Is the British Airways September Sale a good deal?

Yes, if you can be flexible on dates. New York from £410 return and Malaga from £319pp for a week both undercut BA’s typical pricing outside a sale period.

When does the September Sale end?

You need to book by 23:59 GMT on 29 September 2026. Actual travel dates stretch much further, into 2027 on some long-haul routes.

Does the sale cover BA Holidays as well as flights?

Yes. BA Holidays has its own discounted packages running alongside the flight-only fares, including seven nights in the Maldives from £1,369pp.

Can I collect bonus Avios during the sale?

Yes, but only for a short window. Book a BA Holidays package by midnight on 1 September and Executive Club members can collect up to 20,000 bonus Avios.

Are the sale fares refundable?

No, these are standard promotional fares and non-refundable if your plans change. It’s worth checking a separate travel insurance policy before booking.

What’s the cheapest deal in the sale?

Seven nights in Malaga from £319pp is the lowest headline price BA Holidays has published for this sale. It includes flights and hotel with breakfast, based on two sharing.
