"Bath gives you three weekends and Winchester five, so check the dates before you book. Edinburgh, Winter Wonderland and Manchester's Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens are the only ones open on the weekend of 2 and 3 January, when Bath and Winchester have closed. Pick the weekend first, then the market."

Manchester: ten sites and more than 210 stalls
Manchester opens first, on Friday 6 November 2026, across ten city-centre sites. Manchester's Finest reported the details, quoting a council spokesperson, and put the total at more than 210 stalls.
- Most sites close on Tuesday 22 December. Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens stay open until Sunday 3 January 2027.
- New for 2026: a market at Lincoln Square, off Brazennose Street, with more than a dozen stalls plus food trucks.
- Attractions: a 50-metre Ferris wheel, a helter-skelter and an ice rink at Cathedral Gardens. The announcement gave no ticket prices.
- The Christmas parade is on Sunday 6 December.
Search Manchester city centre hotels before you book trains.
Edinburgh: free market, paid rides, 51 days

Edinburgh's tourism site gives the 2026 dates as Saturday 14 November to Sunday 3 January 2027. The market in East Princes Street Gardens is free to enter, with around 70 stalls.
- Attractions, ticketed separately: the LNER Big Wheel, the Starflyer, the Polar Ice Bar and the ice rink on George Street.
- West Princes Street Gardens has the funfair and the Santa experiences.
- The page lists no ticket prices, so check Edinburgh's Christmas official site for them.

London: Winter Wonderland charges £1 to £8.25 to get in

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland runs from Thursday 19 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027 and is shut on Christmas Day, the organiser says. It is the only one here with a published entry fee.
- The ticket guide lists entry at £1 off-peak, £5.50 standard and £8.25 peak. Off-peak slots are mainly Monday to Thursday in November, and peak slots fall mostly later in the day and at weekends. The guide also calls off-peak slots free with a booked ticket, so confirm the price at checkout.
- Everyone books a one-hour entry slot between 10am and 8pm, then can stay until closing.
- Spend over £25 online on rides, attractions, packages or food deals in one transaction and entry is free.
- Booking ahead saves up to 25% against on-the-day prices, and advance prices last until 11.59pm the day before.
Search London hotels before you pick an entry slot.
Winchester: free entry in the cathedral grounds
Winchester Cathedral's market runs from Friday 20 November to Tuesday 22 December 2026. The cathedral says admission is free and needs no pre-booking.
- Hours: Friday and Saturday 10am to 8pm, Sunday to Thursday 10am to 6pm.
- The market sits in the cathedral's historic grounds, in wooden chalets.
- The cathedral recommends public transport. Coaches use the Broadway drop-off, postcode SO23 9GH, and must book an arrival slot with the cathedral.
Search Winchester hotels if you want to stay overnight.
Bath: 18 days, free, and the shortest run
Bath Christmas Market runs from Thursday 26 November to Sunday 13 December 2026. The organiser says entry is free and the market is open-air.
- Hours: Monday to Wednesday 10am to 7pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am to 8pm, Sunday 10am to 6pm.
- In 2025, more than 250 businesses took part, 65% of them from Bath and the surrounding area, Radio Bath reported.
- The same report puts attendance in 2024 at about 444,000.

Birmingham and York: dates not confirmed
We left out Birmingham's Frankfurt Christmas Market and York's market because we couldn't confirm 2026 dates from an organiser on 5 October. We'll update this page when they publish.
How to spend less at UK Christmas markets
The first two tips come from Winter Wonderland's ticket guide. The last two are our own suggestions.
| Do this | Why it works |
|---|---|
| Book Winter Wonderland ahead | Advance prices are up to 25% lower than on the day, and off-peak entry is £1 against £8.25 at peak. |
| Spend over £25 online first | At Winter Wonderland, over £25 on rides, attractions, packages or food deals in one transaction unlocks free entry. |
| Choose a free-entry market | Edinburgh's market, Winchester and Bath have no entry fee, so you pay only for what you buy inside. |
| Pick a long-running market | Edinburgh, Winter Wonderland and Manchester's Albert Square and Cathedral Gardens run to 3 January, which gives you more weekends to choose from. |
If you’d rather go abroad, we priced eight European markets for the same weekend in our Christmas markets in Europe guide. For more UK ideas, see our UK staycations guide, or our Liverpool on a budget guide for another city break.
